The Role

Red Bull Powertrains are offering a year-long placement opportunity within our Systems Engineering teams. In these hands-on roles you will be emersed into the heart of our state-of-the-art Technical and Testing facilities where we drive engineering and innovation to the limit to develop cutting-edge Formula 1 power units. Pushing boundaries is in our DNA!

We’re looking for individuals with a strong interest in areas such as internal combustion engine calibration, control systems engineering, embedded software development, plant modelling, data analysis, validation, and testing. This placement offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of disciplines including engineering, physics, mathematics, and data science while gaining hands-on experience in Power Unit engineering, product validation, durability testing and fault/failure investigation.

The Role

Roles & Responsibilites

Contribute to all stages of the embedded control, calibration, and application process of optimising single cylinder and multi cylinder engines as well as hybrid power units - from controls strategy, embedded software validation, engine calibration and testing, to on track deployment of the 2027 Power Unit

•    Work within a team of engineers to define and develop and test embedded software strategies for PU control and performance optimisation
•    Applying engineering principles to understand the systems level interactions of the Power Unit to deliver on track reliability and performance
•    Building and validating numerical methods for calibration and application analysis to maximise performance and reliability
•    Interpreting and reporting data through technical documentation and presenting insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
•    Collaborating closely with all the technical teams to deliver world-class engineering solutions
•    Gaining direct exposure to the 2027 Formula 1 season and contributing to the future of Red Bull Powertrains
